This transformation was made possible by its specialized division <strong>Kanthal<\/strong>, a provider of <strong>industrial heating<\/strong> solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is part of Alleima&#8217;s goal to reduce its <strong>Scope 1 and 2 CO\u2082 emissions by more than 54 % by 2030<\/strong>, an ambitious figure that aligns with its production model based on scrap and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/alternative-energy-fossil-fuels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fossil-free electric power<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From gas to electricity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The preheaters previously operated with 3 gas burners, however, thanks to a transition initiated through a prototype to validate design and performance, they now operate entirely with <strong>electric heaters<\/strong>. The complete implementation not only generated <strong>greater efficiency and energy savings<\/strong>, but also improved the working environment by eliminating burner noise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Since it was a new technology for us, we started with a prototype to make sure the design and performance were right.<\/p>\n<cite>Maria Mueller, steel plant manager.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reducing emissions where it matters most<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Alleima already has low emissions compared to the average of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/what-is-the-iron-and-steel-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">steel industry average<\/a><\/strong>,the goal is to improve further. According to H\u00e5kan Sundstr\u00f6m, the company&#8217;s Director of Sustainability and Governance, <g id=\"gid_2\">heat treatment is the main contributor to direct emissions<\/g>, surpassing even the steel melting process. <strong>Industrial electrification of these critical stages<\/strong> can therefore have a decisive impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, 80% of the company&#8217;s direct emissions come from the Sandviken plant. In this context, such projects represent strategic advances in both sustainability and operational efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A model that could inspire the entire industry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The experience gained in this project <strong>opens the door to a broader electrification<\/strong> of other thermal processes.
