This process allows CO\u2082 emissions to be reduced by up to 35 %, using existing facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to replace key units with high-efficiency plants capable of <strong>running 100 % on hydrogen by 2050<\/strong>. To secure supply, the company is involved in clean hydrogen production projects in North America, Australia and the Middle East, including an agreement with <strong>ADNOC<\/strong> in the United Arab Emirates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solar and wind energy: expansion of renewable energy sources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Sinan, the POSCO Group operates a <strong>14.5 MW <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/equinor-starts-up-its-first-solar-wind-hybrid-complex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solar complex<\/a><\/strong> built on former salt deposits, with an annual generation capacity of 18,000 MWh, <strong>equivalent to the consumption of 5,300 households<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In parallel, Shinan Green Energy, a subsidiary of POSCO International, operates a 62.7 MW <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/rwe-boosts-new-lasbek-wind-farm-with-more-capacity-and-fewer-turbines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">onshore wind farm<\/a><\/strong> and is developing a 300 MW offshore wind project. These initiatives include a <strong>commitment to local communities<\/strong>, with part of the proceeds going to regional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group&#8217;s flagship project is &#8220;Firefly&#8221;, a 750 MW facility off the coast of Ulsan, in partnership with the Norwegian company <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/equinor-concludes-hammerfest-lng-gas-leak-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equinor<\/a><\/strong>. In addition, <strong>POSCO E&amp;C<\/strong> is developing its own float technologies with thick, high-performance steel, thereby seeking to <strong>reduce costs and ensure technological leadership<\/strong> both locally and globally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New generation materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In parallel to its energy projects, the group has strengthened its portfolio of <strong>specialized energy steels<\/strong>, essential for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/largest-storage-tanks-group-of-gnl-storage-tanks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LNG storage<\/a><\/strong>, hydrogen transport and ESS system components.
