Carrefour Polska has formalized a strategic alliance with EDP Renov\u00e1veis to supply clean energy to its facilities in Poland. The power purchase agreement (PPA) will be based on a combination of solar and wind sources<\/a><\/strong>, making this agreement the first of its kind for EDP in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dual energy PPA with tangible impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The agreement will ensure the annual delivery of 50 GWh of renewable electricity<\/strong> from a 42 MW mixed portfolio. This energy will be used by Carrefour Polska’s supermarket network, contributing directly to its sustainability goals. It is estimated that this supply will enable the avoidance of more than 54,000 tons of CO\u2082 each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relationship between the two companies began in 2024, when EDP signed an agreement to install 13 solar systems<\/a> <\/strong>in five Polish regions, with a combined capacity of 650 kWp. This project served as the basis for the development of the new industrial-scale PPA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technological flexibility adapted to your needs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the particularities of the contract is its dual structure, which integrates solar and wind technologies under the same umbrella. This combination allows for greater stability in supply and is better adjusted to the consumption profiles of large corporations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrefour has set itself the target of reducing its global electricity consumption by 20% by 2026, and in Poland it has already exceeded that goal with a 37.03% reduction compared to 2019. This new step reaffirms the group’s commitment to climate neutrality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDP strengthens its presence in the Polish market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since its entry into Poland in 2007, EDP has consolidated its role as a key player in the energy transition. Through its subsidiary EDP Energia Polska, it has installed more than 270 MWp of distributed capacity, while EDP Renewables has more than 600 MW installed in large-scale projects in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By opting for PPA contracts, companies such as Carrefour achieve not only price stability in the face of energy volatility, but also concrete progress in their sustainability strategies. For EDP, these agreements drive the expansion of clean infrastructure in the territories where it operates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
