The work, which took place between September 2024 and October 2025, included seabed preparation, ballasting of structures and protection of pipelines in extreme conditions.

Stability and offshore works in demanding environments

The first phase took place on the Grand Banks, where the vessel Stornes performed seabed leveling at a depth of 117 meters, ensuring a stable base for the positioning of the Concrete Gravity Gravity Structure (EGR). Subsequently, in May 2025, Stornes and Nordnes completed the solid ballasting of the EGR in Placentia Bay.

In July, Nordnes installed erosion protection barriers to prevent erosion barriers around the structure in the offshore field. The final stage consisted of flowline protection work in October, reinforcing the safety of the production pipelines against adverse weather conditions such as hurricanes, fog and icebergs.

Engineering specialized in marine interventions

The project required high-level technical coordination and the deployment of specialized technology for the installation of subsea rocks and heavy structures. Van Oord stood out for its ability to adapt to complex offshore environments, consolidating its experience in deep interventions and stability of subsea infrastructure.

With this closing, the company reaffirms its position as a key player in highly demanding maritime works in the North Atlantic.

Source and photo: Van Oord

Van Oord leveled the seabed at a depth of 117 meters to install a gravity structure in an environment with icebergs and hurricanes.

[13026,13048

post-321712","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-maritime
["GET
