Under the name <strong>Serra da Babil\u00f4nia<\/strong>, the complex is composed of a solar <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/worlds-largest-rooftop-solar-plant-to-be-located-in-bahrain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solar plant<\/a><\/strong> plant of 140 megawatts (MW) and an existing 223 MW wind plant, for a total capacity of 363 MW. <\/p>\n\n<p>The solar complex was developed and commissioned by <strong>Rio Energy<\/strong>, acquired by the company in 2023. This Brazilian subsidiary is now the company&#8217;s main vehicle for expansion in onshore renewable projects in the country, thanks to more than a decade of experience in the market. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Energy for more than 140 thousand homes<\/h2>\n\n<p>The estimated annual production of the new solar park will reach <strong>236 gigawatt hours (GWh)<\/strong>, enough to supply around <strong>143,000 Brazilian homes<\/strong>. This energy will be sold on the Brazilian electricity market through <strong>Danske Commodities<\/strong>, the company&#8217;s subsidiary specializing in energy trading, based in S\u00e3o Paulo. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brazil, a centerpiece in Equinor&#8217;s strategy<\/h2>\n\n<p>With this new facility in operation, the company adds around <strong>600 MW of renewable generation capacity<\/strong> in Brazil, including its participation in other projects such as Apodi (162 MW) and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/equinor-will-invest-in-a-usd-430-million-solar-project-in-brazil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mendubim<\/a><\/strong> (531 MW), both in partnership with Scatec.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Brazil is a key area for Equinor&#8217;s long-term growth.
