The aim is to begin operations by the end of 2027, making it one of the largest facilities of its kind on the continent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant is designed to <strong>generate up to 23,000 tons per year of hydrogen <\/strong>using only renewable sources such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/eirgrid-celebrates-key-breakthrough-in-offshore-wind-energy-in-ireland\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"316747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wind, solar and hydroelectric<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New green hydrogen plant production details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The hydrogen produced will directly supply the OMV refinery in Schwechat <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omv.com\/en\/expertise\/fuels-and-feedstock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OMV&#8217;s refinery in Schwechat, by means of a<\/a><\/strong> through a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/scarborough-gas-pipeline-installation-completed\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"199954\">pipeline<\/a><\/strong> 22-kilometer gas pipeline. This connection will <strong>reduce up to 150,000 tons of carbon emissions each year<\/strong>, representing about 10% of the facility&#8217;s current direct emissions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is part of OMV&#8217;s corporate strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Participation of partners in engineering and execution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant will be developed under an EPC contract by a consortium led by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/nextchem-and-siemens-energy-seek-to-electrify-the-maritime-industry-with-methanol\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"302876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Siemens Energy<\/a><\/strong> which will supply and implement the electrolysis, compression and transformation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>STRABAG will be responsible for all civil infrastructure, including the construction of buildings and auxiliary facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has also received positive evaluation from the European Hydrogen Bank and is supported by Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH.
