The company has confirmed a <strong>new oil discovery in the Goliat North well,<\/strong> located just five kilometers north of the Goliat field, where the floating FPSO Goliat unit is already operating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New oil discovery in key formations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The exploration well encountered <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/what-are-hydrocarbons-and-classification\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/que-son-los-hidrocarburos-clasificacion\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hydrocarbons<\/a><\/strong> in the Realgrunnen and Kobbe formations. Initial estimates<strong> point to about 5 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent<\/strong>, reinforcing the productive potential of the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This well is part of the appraisal program in the Goliath Ridge, a region where V\u00e5r Energi, in partnership with Equinor, plans to drill up to four wells. Drilling is currently underway on Zagato, a sidetrack in the same area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once all drilling is completed, the company will analyze the full potential of the mountain range using acquired data and new 3D seismic logs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Estimated reserves in excess of 200 million barrels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the discovery in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/varenergi.no\/en\/operations\/our-key-hubs\/barents-sea\/barents-hub-key-assets\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/varenergi.no\/en\/operations\/our-key-hubs\/barents-sea\/barents-hub-key-assets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goliat North<\/a><\/strong>, the resources discovered in the region are estimated to range from 39 to 108 million barrels equivalent. Adding additional prospective resources, the volume could rise to 200 million barrels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The development envisages connecting the new fields with the nearby FPSO Goliath floating infrastructure, which would reduce costs and accelerate production start-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00e5r Energi leads the license with a 65% stake, while Equinor holds 35%.
