{"id":318921,"date":"2025-12-03T13:21:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/?p=318921"},"modified":"2025-12-02T16:50:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T20:50:28","slug":"morgan-offshore-wind-receives-approval-for-new-wind-farm-in-ireland","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/morgan-offshore-wind-receives-approval-for-new-wind-farm-in-ireland\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan Offshore Wind receives approval for new wind farm in Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The United Kingdom Government has granted Morgan Offshore Wind Limited the <strong>authorization to develop a new offshore wind farm<\/strong> in the Irish Sea, thus strengthening its national strategy towards a cleaner and more secure energy matrix.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A large-scale energy project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Morgan Offshore Wind<\/strong> project, located off the coast of Cumbria, involves the installation of <strong>up to 96 wind turbines<\/strong>, four <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/first-substations-of-baltic-power-installed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offshore substations<\/a><\/strong> and a subsea interconnection network. It is estimated to generate <strong>1.5 gigawatts (GW)<\/strong> of electricity, enough to cover the consumption of <strong>1.5 million homes<\/strong> in the United Kingdom each year. <\/p>\n\n<p>The power generated will be connected to the <strong>Penwortham substation<\/strong> in Lancashire through a transmission system shared with the <strong>Morecambe Offshore Wind Farm<\/strong> project, developed by Cobra and Flotation Energy.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International strategic alliance<\/h2>\n\n<p>Morgan Offshore Wind Limited is a consortium formed by <strong>JERA Nex bp<\/strong> and the German energy company <strong>Energie Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg AG (EnBW).<\/strong> Both companies have previously secured licenses for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/origins-evolution-industrial-electricity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">power generation<\/a><\/strong> and offshore leasing rights in the <strong>UK Round 4 award<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>London-based JERA Nex bp combines the offshore expertise of <strong>JERA and BP in Asia-Pacific and the North Sea<\/strong>, while EnBW has more than <strong>15 years of experience operating <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/offshore-wind-farm-maintenance-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offshore wind farms<\/a><\/strong> in Europe and is engaged in a \u20ac40 billion investment plan through 2030 focused on renewables.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributing to national objectives<\/h2>\n\n<p>Morgan Offshore Wind joins the set of initiatives that seek to ensure a stable electricity supply, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and achieve <strong>carbon neutrality by 2050<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>This wind farm is complemented by its sister project <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/mona-offshore-wind-farm-development-consent-decision-announced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Mona Offshore Wind<\/strong><\/a>also under development by JERA Nex bp and EnBW, which received its authorization a few months ago.
