{"id":318483,"date":"2025-12-02T14:22:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T18:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/?p=318483"},"modified":"2025-12-01T16:43:23","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T20:43:23","slug":"totalenergies-sold-40-stake-in-nigeria-to-chevron","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/totalenergies-sold-40-stake-in-nigeria-to-chevron\/","title":{"rendered":"TotalEnergies sold 40% stake in Nigeria to Chevron"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>TotalEnergies<\/strong> announced an assignment agreement with <strong>Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited<\/strong>, an affiliate of Chevron, to transfer to it a <strong>40% interest<\/strong> in the PPL 2000 and PPL 2001 exploration licenses, located offshore Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A strategic area for exploration<\/h2>\n\n<p>The licenses <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/totalenergies-obtains-new-offshore-exploration-licenses-for-nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PPL 2000 and PPL 2001<\/a><\/strong> are located in the West Delta basin, one of the most active offshore development areas on the African continent and cover approximately <strong>2000 square kilometers<\/strong>. The blocks were awarded to TotalEnergies and South Atlantic Petroleum during the 2024 Exploration Round, organized by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/totalenergies-strengthens-its-stake-in-the-opl257-block-in-nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TotalEnergies<\/a><\/strong> will continue to be the operator of the licenses with a 40% interest, while Chevron, through Star Deep Water Petroleum, will also hold 40%. South Atlantic Petroleum will retain the remaining 20%. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continuity of a strategic partnership<\/h2>\n\n<p>This divestment is part of a broader strategy that both companies are promoting to <strong>reduce risks and expand opportunities<\/strong> in high-potential areas.
