The initiative has reduced verification times and decreased spoilage associated with logistical delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greater clarity and planning for carriers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to optimize the operation of the port’s inspection centers, the Port of Rotterdam Authority formed a working group at the end of 2024. This multidisciplinary team includes the participation of regulatory bodies such as the NVWA, logistics entities and associations from the agri-food sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among its goals, it highlights the need to provide predictability in control times<\/a><\/strong>, reduce detention costs, and facilitate faster delivery to the final destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital tools for refrigerated cargo inspections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the key advances is the implementation of a digital dashboard that provides real-time information on occupancy levels and deadlines at each inspection point. This visibility has improved planning capabilities for logistics operators and reduced errors during document entry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, customs can process a greater number of shipments in a shorter time, shortening the length of stay of refrigerated containers<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efficiency without compromising safety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new model maintains the high standards of sanitary control required by the EU<\/strong>. According to NVWA representatives, the approach is focused on combining efficiency and regulatory compliance, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the processes among all actors in the chain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inter-agency collaboration is being valued as an essential pillar to sustain the pace of improvement until at least 2026, when the Import Sector Committee will evaluate the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
