This technology is based on <strong>suction sails<\/strong> and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 49% compared to other vessels. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Logistics and technological innovation in maritime transport<\/h2>\n\n<p>The trip involved the transfer of 300 thousand barrels of naphtha between the Cartagena Refinery and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/ecopetrol-cartagena-refinery\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"193811\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cartagena Refinery<\/a><\/strong> and the <strong>Pozos Colorados Maritime Terminal<\/strong> in Santa Marta. The vessel, equipped with three aerodynamic sails, used the force of the wind to optimize thrust, achieving a more efficient operation in terms of fuel consumption and energy performance. <\/p>\n\n<p><em>Suction sails<\/em>, also known as <strong>rotating sails<\/strong>, capture air currents to generate additional thrust, which contributes to cleaner navigation. This initiative is part of Ecopetrol&#8217;s strategy to advance the decarbonization of its operations and meet its sustainability and competitiveness goals. <\/p>\n\n<p>This is not the first time the company has adopted this technology. With this second operation, <em>Ecopetrol <\/em>consolidates its commitment to <strong>maritime logistics with low environmental impact<\/strong> and demonstrates its commitment to the country&#8217;s energy transition. <\/p>\n\n<p>Julio C\u00e9sar Herrera, the company&#8217;s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, mentioned that this type of solution generates business value while contributing to a more sustainable energy future for Colombia.<\/p>\n\n<p>This progress reaffirms Ecopetrol&#8217;s interest in integrating technological tools that reduce emissions associated with the transportation of hydrocarbons.
