The BRF Froan is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2026, and its main route will be transporting marble from Br\u00f8nn\u00f8y and Visnes to Elnesv\u00e5gen in Norway. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The BRF Froan is no ordinary ship, it is an ambitious project to create a <strong>zero-emission<\/strong> cargo ship and to achieve this, Berge Rederi will combine several technologies, among which are:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Battery electric propulsion<\/strong>: It will have a gigantic <strong>23.5 MWh<\/strong> battery that will be charged with electricity from the grid in port.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rotor sails<\/strong>: Two large 24m high rotating cylinders that harness the wind to generate &#8220;extra thrust&#8221;, saving a lot of energy (an average of 339 kW per trip).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wattlab solar panels<\/strong>: 96 flat solar panels in total, which will generate <strong>172.8 kWp<\/strong> of energy to help power the ship&#8217;s systems and reduce the load on the main batteries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is the contract with Wattlab important?<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wattlab.nl\/short-sea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wattlab<\/a><\/strong> does not sell ordinary solar panels, but <strong>systems designed specifically for the harsh marine environment<\/strong>, capable of preventing damage from salt, wind, vibrations, etc. Berge Rederi chose them both for their technology and their <strong>practical knowledge of shipping operations<\/strong>, as they understand the real needs of a ship and its crew. <\/p>\n\n<p>Moreover, this agreement represents the second major maritime project for Wattlab, after recently completing an installation aboard the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/wattlab-equips-vertom-tula-with-maritime-solar-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vertom Tula<\/a><\/strong> with the same system.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>First of all, we would like to thank Berge Rederi for their confidence in our system and in us. It is an honor that, with our second maritime project, we can, as an expanding company, be part of such an innovative vessel as the BRF Froan.
