The agreement, signed at the beginning of 2025, has already generated measurable positive impacts in the use of low carbon footprint materials. materials with a low carbon footprint.

Thanks to the incorporation of Vertua® concrete, developed by Cemex, the real estate developer has managed to avoid the emission of 1,709 tons of carbon dioxide in three developments completed in the Levante area, corresponding to Inspira, Molí Mistral and Patraix. Altogether, these projects have used 19,500 m³ of sustainable concrete, a significant figure considering that Vertua® can reduce emissions by between 30% and 70% compared to traditional concrete.

According to calculations supported by the DGT and ANFAC, the reduction in emissions is equivalent to those generated annually by 1,300 passenger cars or the carbon capture of approximately 28,000 trees.

A partnership with climate objectives

Although Cemex was already a regular supplier to Metrovacesa, the agreement signed this year has intensified the use of more sustainable solutions in new construction developments. This collaboration is part of the commitments made by both companies to the 2030 Agenda and the decarbonization goals of the real estate sector. decarbonization of the real estate sector.

It gives us great satisfaction to see how agreements signed with enthusiasm and expectations translate into such significant results. We hope that this relationship continues to be fruitful and that we can move forward along the path we have already started.

David Sierra, Director of Projects and Sustainability at Metrovacesa.

The collaboration with Metrovacesa reflects our commitment to the decarbonization of the construction sector through the use of innovative materials such as our Vertua® concrete. Seeing these initiatives translate into concrete results, such as significant emissions reductions in real projects, reaffirms that the transition to more sustainable construction is not only possible, but is already underway.

Albert Gómez, Materials Director of Cemex.

Future projections for Metrovacesa and Cemex

Currently, Metrovacesa and Cemex continue to collaborate on new developments such as Nou Llevant in Palma de Mallorca and Abelia in Alicante, both with the aim of expanding the use of low environmental impact materials and continuing to reduce the carbon footprint of the national real estate stock.

This line of action is part of Cemex’s global program, Future in Actionwith which the company aspires to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
