ENGIE has taken a key step in its clean energy strategy by signing a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple. The French company will install in southern Italy five new renewable renewable infrastructures<\/a><\/strong> totaling a capacity of 173 megawatts (MW), scheduled to operate between 2026 and 2027. <\/p>\n\n

Apple and ENGIE agree on stable energy<\/strong> for 15 years<\/h2>\n\n

The agreement provides for two wind farms<\/a><\/strong>The agreement includes two wind farms, a wind repowering plant and two agrovoltaic projects, all of which have already been authorized. Eighty percent of the electricity generated will be directly supplied to Apple<\/strong>, while the remaining 20% will be fed into the Italian grid, contributing to the consumption of some 30,000 households per year.<\/p>\n\n

With this supply contract for up to 15 years, Apple is making progress in its plan to reduce emissions in its value chain. For its part, ENGIE consolidates its position as a strategic supplier of customized solutions for large corporations, guaranteeing stable prices and less exposure to the volatility of the energy market. <\/p>\n\n

Measurable environmental impact<\/h2>\n\n

The new renewable facilities will produce more than 400 gigawatt hours (GWh) will produce more than 400 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year<\/a><\/strong>emissions<\/strong>, which will prevent the emission of some 160,000 tons of CO\u2082 per year<\/strong>, equivalent to the vehicle fleet of 70,000 combustion vehicles.<\/p>\n\n

This project adds to ENGIE’s plan to reach 1.6 GW of installed renewable capacity in Italy by 2030. Currently, the group operates or builds 773 MW in the country, distributed among solar, wind and battery storage systems<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

ENGIE has contracted 4.3 GW in renewable renewable PPA agreements<\/a><\/strong> during 2024, consolidating its position as a major player in the corporate supply of green energy on a global scale. This partnership with Apple reinforces the role of PPAs as effective instruments to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy model. <\/p>\n\n
