The new facilities will be hybridized with solar photovoltaic plants and will be deployed in four autonomous communities, including Almeria, Las Palmas and Pontevedra.

The main objective is to store the excess energy produced by its solar plants and will add a total capacity of 160 MW and a storage capacity of 342 MWh to the national electricity system. This initiative is part of a total portfolio of 10 projects that will be operational by 2026.

European investment for a real energy transition

The development of these projects has been financed by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU program, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.. The total investment exceeds 80 million euros.

The annual storage capacity will reach 125,000 MWh, enough to cover the electricity consumption of more than 38,000 households. In addition, nine of the projects will be hybridized with solar installations and one will be independent, connected directly to the grid in Vigo.

A strategic step towards the PNIEC objectives

The battery storage battery storage projects projects are in line with the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), which establishes that 81% of electricity generation must come from renewable sources by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Spanish government plans to incorporate 22.5 GW of storage capacity into the system.

Towards a more robust and sustainable electricity system

Although these are the first projects in Spain, Naturgy has already demonstrated its technical capacity in battery storage outside the country, such as in Australia, where it successfully connected its first large-scale battery installation, or the start-up of Cunderdin, Naturgy’s first major hybrid project worldwide. Both experiences provide guarantees for the deployment in Spain.

This announcement is an excellent sign for the Spanish energy system, as it shows that concrete steps are being taken with real investment to solve the intermittency of renewable energies. renewable energies

Source: Naturgy

The new facilities will strengthen the national electricity supply and accelerate the integration of renewable energies.

[13026,13044

post-308148","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-new-energies
["GET
