The <g id=\"gid_0\">Sinnamary power plant <\/g>is powered by wood species unsuitable for construction from Lake Petit-Saut. This <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/cic-energigune-promotes-storage-with-liquid-hydrogen-derived-from-biomass\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"247751\">biomass<\/a><\/strong> is harvested by <strong>Triton Guyane<\/strong>, a subsidiary of <em>Voltalia<\/em>, using a specialized unit that recovers wood submerged in the reservoir.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This project is part of the energy and timber cluster developed in Petit-Saut. In addition to the power plant, a sawmill has been built that will produce nearly 9,000 m\u00b3 of wood per year. The entire complex is part of a long-term circular economy model with a positive environmental and social impact.  <\/p>\n\n<p>With this new infrastructure, the company brings its total installed capacity in French Guiana to more than 17 megawatts. In addition, its plants in Kourou<em>(1.7 MW)<\/em> and Cacao<em>(5.1 MW<\/em>) supplied part of the electricity system, and with Sinnamary, coverage equivalent to 16 % of local consumption is achieved. <\/p>\n\n<p>Robert Klein, CEO of Voltalia, mentioned that this plant represents a turning point for energy production in the region. <em>&#8220;It demonstrates that it is possible to generate low-carbon, reliable and competitive electricity using local resources,&#8221;<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>Sinnamary project<\/strong>, with an investment of over 200 million euros, is designed to operate for 25 years.
