{"id":307615,"date":"2025-10-17T12:16:24","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T16:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/bureau-veritas-classifies-hydrogen-powered-cargo-ships-for-norwegian-company\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T14:07:43","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T18:07:43","slug":"bureau-veritas-classifies-hydrogen-powered-cargo-ships-for-norwegian-company","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/bureau-veritas-classifies-hydrogen-powered-cargo-ships-for-norwegian-company\/","title":{"rendered":"Bureau Veritas classifies hydrogen-powered cargo ships for Norwegian company"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Bureau Veritas Marine &amp; Offshore<\/strong> has announced the signing of a contract with <strong>Gelibolu Shipyard<\/strong> and Germany&#8217;s <strong>eCap Marine<\/strong> for the classification of four general cargo vessels, under a 2+2 scheme, to be built for Norway&#8217;s <strong>M\u00f8re Sj\u00f8 AS.<\/strong> The vessels will be hydrogen-powered, representing the first of their class to be recognized by <strong>Bureau Veritas<\/strong> under the new <strong>HYDROGENFUEL<\/strong> scheme. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Classification of hydrogen cargo vessels<\/h2>\n\n<p>Designed to operate under the Norwegian flag, the vessels will be 88.7 meters long and 14.2 meters wide, with a draft of six meters and the capacity to carry dry bulk cargo. By integrating an <strong>electric propulsion system<\/strong> based on compressed hydrogen, battery backup and advanced unrestricted navigation standards. <\/p>\n\n<p>The company <em>eCap Marine<\/em><strong> <\/strong>lead the design of the hydrogen <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/hydrogen-purification-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hydrogen system<\/a><\/strong>including installation, commissioning and alternative design approval. This process is performed under the direct supervision of <em>Bureau Veritas<\/em>, which will ensure the safe and reliable integration of the on-board technologies. <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to their technological propulsion system, the vessels will have additional notations that strengthen their technical and operational profile: <strong>Cyber Resilient<\/strong>, <strong>Unrestricted Navigation<\/strong>, <strong>AUT-UMS<\/strong>, underwater inspection and connection to OPS systems from port.<\/p>\n\n<p>This contract specifies that the first units will be built with the <strong>HYDROGENFUEL-PREPARED<\/strong> notation, ensuring their structural and technical readiness to integrate hydrogen energy systems.
