Electra announced the selection of Evolito as the supplier of its electric propulsion<\/a> units<\/strong> for its Electra EL9, a hybrid-electric aircraft<\/strong> designed to take off and land on runways of only 45 meters. <\/p>\n\n

Certified engines for scalable production<\/h2>\n\n

Specifically, Evolito will provide Electra with axial flux electric motors<\/strong>, for their high torque-to-motor and power ratio, framed in a small and light package. These motors will drive the 8 propellers distributed along the wing of the \n EL9<\/a>\n<\/strong>which in turn will channel air over the wings and flaps to generate lift seven times greater<\/strong> than that of conventional wings. <\/p>\n\n

Electra EL9 Calendar<\/h2>\n\n

First test flights of the Electra EL9 are projected for 2027<\/strong>, flights under FAA Part 23 certification by the end of 2029 and the start of commercial operations would begin in 2030<\/strong>. Market response has been strong, with over 2200 pre-orders from more than 60 customers<\/strong> globally, including airline and helicopter operators. <\/p>\n\n

The collaboration between Electra and \n Evolito<\/a>\n<\/strong> is part of a broader ecosystem that includes the backing of Lockheed Martin<\/strong>, a major player in aerospace and defense technology.
