Built by Seatrium at its shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, this vessel sets a precedent as the <strong>first heavy lift vessel manufactured on U.S. soil<\/strong> to comply with Jones Act requirements. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charybdis, the most powerful U.S.-made offshore crane vessel.<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Merchant_Marine_Act_of_1920\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Merchant_Marine_Act_of_1920\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jones Act<\/a>\n<\/strong>The Jones Act, which regulates maritime commerce between U.S. ports, requires that both the construction, ownership and operation of these vessels be domestic. In that context, the Charybdis represents a strategic solution for supporting <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/project-windtwin-and-sea-wind-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/proyecto-windtwin-y-la-energia-eolica-marina\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offshore wind energy projects<\/a>\n<\/strong> and transportation of large structures without relying on foreign vessels. <\/p>\n\n<p>Designed to lift complex structures in demanding offshore environments, the vessel features a 426-foot crane <strong>with the capacity to lift up to 2,200 tons.<\/strong> These features position it as a critical asset in the deployment of wind turbines. <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/advances-high-performance-wind-turbines\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/avances-turbinas-eolicas-de-alto-rendimiento\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offshore wind turbines<\/a>\n<\/strong> offshore wind turbines and other heavy infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to its lifting capacity, the Charybdis was designed to sustain prolonged operations, <strong>with an accommodation capacity of 119 persons<\/strong>.
