This connection is intended to <strong>replace the use of tanker trucks<\/strong> that currently supply hydrogen in cylinders to the plant, in order to <strong>optimize the supply for energy-intensive processes<\/strong> such as the paint shop&#8217;s drying ovens. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic alliances for a decarbonized future<\/h2>\n\n<p>To carry out the construction and integration of the pipeline, BMW signed agreements with <strong>MITNETZ GAS<\/strong> and <strong>ONTRAS Gastransport<\/strong>, who will be in charge of:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MITNETZ GAS: The engineering and construction of the <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/the-supply-of-natural-gas-on-a-large-scale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gas pipeline<\/a>\n<\/strong> 2 km pipeline, as well as the metering and pressure system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONTRAS Gastransport: Manages the technical connection of the plant&#8217;s pipeline to Germany&#8217;s future hydrogen backbone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The fact that the Leipzig plant will be connected to <strong> Germany&#8217;<\/strong> s future <strong>&#8220;Hydrogen Backbone Network&#8221;<\/strong> means that the BMW Group will have the ability to access production and storage sites throughout the country, as well as Europe&#8217;s hydrogen networks.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical applications for the Leipzig plant<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwgroup-werke.com\/leipzig\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BMW Group&#8217;s Leipzig plant<\/a>\n<\/strong> is one of the most modern automobile factories in the world, renowned for its architecture and its design to reduce the carbon footprint by using technologies such as hydrogen or electric batteries.<\/p>\n\n<p>With the new <strong>continuous hydrogen supply planned for 2027<\/strong>, the plant will be able to leverage the use of bivalent burners already installed, capable of running on gas or hydrogen, especially in areas of high thermal demand.
