The initiative was led by <strong>CHI Shanghai<\/strong> and technically supported by <strong>Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine &amp; Offshore<\/strong><em>(BVS<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ship-to-ship methanol bunkering operation<\/h2>\n\n<p>This refueling took place at the <strong>CHI Shanghai terminal<\/strong>, where the<strong> COSCO Shipping Libra vessel<\/strong> transferred 2,100 tons of methanol in 10 hours. This action represents a replicable model for future ship conversions to bi-fuel systems. <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/china-three-ecological-pulp-vessels\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"182480\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n  <strong>bi-fuel systems<\/strong>\n<\/a> and for methanol supply <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/man-energy-solutions-unveils-the-worlds-most-powerful-methanol-engine\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"257950\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">methanol supply projects.<\/a>\n<\/strong> large scale methanol supply projects. <\/p>\n\n<p><em>Bureau Veritas<\/em>, through its consulting division BVS, carried out risk assessments at five essential stages of the process: from fuel inertization in trucks to the departure of the refueled vessel. In addition, <strong>HAZID<\/strong> and <strong>HAZOP <\/strong> <strong>methodologies<\/strong> were applied to ensure operational safety, with prior drills and technical training programs on methanol handling. <\/p>\n\n<p>During the preparation phase, the shipyard cooperated with multiple stakeholders to validate the technical and legal feasibility of the operation. Moreover, regulatory compliance for 20,000 TEU methanol-powered container ships was assessed, improving the safety and sustainability standards required for this type of supply. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>This operation demonstrates how collaboration and rigorous risk management make safe and efficient methanol refueling possible.
