The facility, located in Vilvoorde, Belgium, is expected to reach 800 MWh upon completion in 2025, <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A project that strengthens the Belgian network<\/h2>\n\n<p>At the heart of the Vilvoorde project are the units <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/en.sungrowpower.com\/productDetail\/2294\/energy-storage-system-powertitan-series-st2236ux-st2752ux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PowerTitan units<\/a>\n<\/strong> developed by Sungrow, large-scale, liquid-cooled <strong>battery energy storage (BESS) units<\/strong>. Source: Sungrow. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic collaboration between industry and technology<\/h2>\n\n<p>The success of the battery storage system is based on the strategic collaboration between <strong>ENGIE<\/strong>, as system operator and owner, whose role is to manage the infrastructure to provide flexibility services to the Belgian electricity system; and <strong>Sungrow<\/strong> who is providing the storage technology <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/apatura-reaches-2-gw-with-new-560-mw-bess-system-in-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">storage technology<\/a>\n<\/strong> storage technology and supports the project with its technical know-how and presence in the European market.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic importance of the project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The ability to absorb surplus energy will help <strong>balance supply and demand<\/strong>, mitigate grid congestion problems and provide the flexibility to integrate a higher percentage of renewable energy. In addition, the use of PowerTitan units represents a 50% savings in construction time due to the ease of installation derived from their design. <\/p>\n\n<p>The Vilvoorde project is a key piece in the European energy puzzle, seeking to provide the <strong>flexibility and stability<\/strong> needed for renewables to become the backbone of the electricity supply.
