{"id":298358,"date":"2025-09-15T19:53:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T23:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/glenfarne-and-posco-international-promote-development-of-alaska-lng-project-in-italy\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T05:27:28","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T09:27:28","slug":"glenfarne-and-posco-international-promote-development-of-alaska-lng-project-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/glenfarne-and-posco-international-promote-development-of-alaska-lng-project-in-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Glenfarne and POSCO International promote development of Alaska LNG project in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Within the framework of the <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/the-gastech-conference-2024-has-begun\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"188892\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Gastech<\/strong><\/a>conference, <strong>Glenfarne Alaska LNG<\/strong> and <strong>POSCO International Corporation<\/strong> announced the signing of an agreement to establish a strategic alliance for the development of the Alaska LNG project, the only federally authorized liquefied natural gas export project on the Pacific coast of the United States.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The development of the Alaska LNG project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The alliance includes three fundamental components: the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/ssabs-steel-plant-to-move-towards-fossil-free-steel\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"210997\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supply of steel<\/a> <\/strong>by POSCO, a <strong>preliminary <\/strong>20-year <strong>LNG <em>offtake <\/em>agreement <\/strong>, and a <strong>direct investment<\/strong> in the project. This agreement marks the first formal LNG offtake commitment for Alaska LNG, pointing towards the final investment decision<em>(FID<\/em>), expected by Glenfarne later this year. <\/p>\n\n<p>For its part, POSCO, South Korea&#8217;s largest steel producer and a major importer of LNG in Asia, will supply some of the steel needed for the 1,294-kilometer, 107-centimeter-diameter pipeline, which will connect the <strong>North Slope&#8217;s vast natural gas resources<\/strong> to the export terminal in Nikiski, Alaska.<\/p>\n\n<p>This pipeline will be built in two separate phases: the first will transport gas to the Anchorage region, while the second will include the <strong>liquefaction plant<\/strong>, the <strong>subsea section under Cook Inlet<\/strong> and the <strong>compression systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The <em>Alaska LNG project<\/em> is a joint venture between Glenfarne, majority shareholder and lead developer, and the state-owned <strong>Alaska Gasline Development Corporation<\/strong>.
