This step represents the operational reactivation of a historic deposit and a commitment to the sustainable production of gold. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/a-startup-boosts-the-production-of-gold-through-nuclear-fusion\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"283477\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gold production<\/a><\/strong> in northwestern Canada.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new production cycle at Sleeping Giant mine<\/h2>\n\n<p>Smelting of the first ingot took place on September 11, 2025, just two months after rehabilitation work began. Sleeping Giant, which produced more than one million ounces of gold between 1987 and 2014, is once again operating under the management of Abcourt, which also controls the Flordin mill and property. <\/p>\n\n<p>The restart of the plant is part of a C$42 million investment plan, with a projected annual production of 30,000 ounces of gold over an estimated 5.8 years, according to preliminary economic assessments.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Future plans and prospects<\/h2>\n\n<p>The company plans to begin delivering gold bars to market in a favorable price environment. The project currently hosts approximately 173,330 ounces in measured and indicated resources and 248,300 ounces in inferred resources, reinforcing its medium-term potential. <\/p>\n\n<p>Pascal Hamelin, Abcourt&#8217;s President and CEO, noted that this milestone reflects the team&#8217;s efficiency and opens a new chapter for their Abitibi operations. The announcement also comes just ahead of their participation in the Mining Forum Americas 2025 in Colorado Springs, where they will be presenting to the mining investment community. <\/p>\n\n<p>With the mine reactivated and a functional mill, Abcourt is consolidating its presence in one of Canada&#8217;s most active gold regions.
