The development of a next-generation thermal fluid, called Shell EV-Plus, promises to <strong>recharge batteries from 10% to 80% in less than 10 minutes<\/strong> without compromising safety or cell life. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Shell fluid accelerates electric car charging<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The breakthrough was made possible by a joint venture between Shell Lubricants and RML Group, a British company specializing in automotive innovation. Together they designed a 34-kWh battery pack that incorporates this thermal fluid based on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/gas-to-liquid-technology-advances-impact\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/tecnologia-gas-a-liquido-avances-e-impacto\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology. <\/a><\/strong>(GTL) TECHNOLOGY. This combination allows higher charging currents to be tolerated with precise thermal control.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Under optimal conditions, a light, aerodynamic vehicle consuming 10 km\/kWh could recover <strong>up to 24 km of range for every minute connected to the charger<\/strong>. This figure far exceeds the 5 km per minute typical of many current models, representing a significant improvement in range per charge time. <\/p>\n\n<p>The key to performance lies in the ability of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shell.com\/business-customers\/lubricants-for-business\/products\/shell-efluids\/introduction-to-e-fluids-and-e-greases.html\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.shell.com\/business-customers\/lubricants-for-business\/products\/shell-efluids\/introduction-to-e-fluids-and-e-greases.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shell EV-Plus<\/a><\/strong> fluid to fill all spaces within the battery pack, maximizing contact with each cell and ensuring efficient heat transfer. Its non-conductive nature allows it to maintain electrical <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/optimization-safety-in-industrial-electricity\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/seguridad-en-la-electricidad-industrial\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electrical safety<\/a><\/strong> while managing the heat generated during fast charging. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety and more compact design<\/h2>\n\n<p>In addition to shortening charging times, this breakthrough makes it possible to design more compact battery packs with fewer components and greater thermal stability.
