The Company Monkey Island LNG<\/a><\/strong> has taken a key step in its ambitious energy project in Louisiana by signing a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with McDermott. This agreement provides for initial engineering and planning services for a natural gas liquefaction natural gas liquefaction plant<\/a><\/strong> liquefaction plant that aims to redefine surface efficiency standards. <\/p>\n\n

Compact design to maximize production per acre<\/h2>\n\n

Thanks to a modular design developed by McDermott, the future plant will be able to achieve up to 60% more LNG production. up to 60% more LNG production per acre than<\/a><\/strong> per acre than similar projects. This performance is achieved through liquefaction mega-modules and a compact industrial architecture that reduces both the physical footprint of the project and its associated risks. <\/p>\n\n

Located in Cameron Parish, a few kilometers from the Gulf of Mexico, the site was selected for its proximity to gas supply<\/strong>. Phase 1 of the project considers three liquefaction trains with a capacity of 5.2 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) each, representing an initial production of 15.6 MTPA. Future expansion contemplates two additional trains to reach 26 MTPA. <\/p>\n\n

Modular engineering for LNG production<\/h2>\n\n

The system chosen for the plant is the ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade Process<\/a><\/strong> (ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade Process, already validated in other global operations. This is in addition to McDermott’s integrated approach, which includes engineering execution, cost control and in-house manufacturing. This combination is intended to ensure a smooth transition to a future EPC contract. <\/p>\n\n

Engineering and permitting work<\/strong> is expected to begin in 2026<\/strong>, with first production scheduled for the early 2030s. During this phase, McDermott’s Houston and Gurugram teams will be in charge of preliminary work, positioning this development as one of the most important private energy infrastructure developments in North America. <\/p>\n\n
