{"id":290700,"date":"2025-08-18T21:38:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/use-of-brazilian-ai-technology-improves-safety-on-oil-rigs\/"},"modified":"2025-09-07T19:36:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T23:36:54","slug":"use-of-brazilian-ai-technology-improves-safety-on-oil-rigs","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/use-of-brazilian-ai-technology-improves-safety-on-oil-rigs\/","title":{"rendered":"Use of Brazilian AI technology improves safety on oil rigs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A strategic partnership between <strong>Shape Digital<\/strong>, <strong>Shell Brazil<\/strong>, <strong>MODEC <\/strong>and the <strong>State University of Campinas<\/strong><em>(Unicamp<\/em>) seeks to improve operational safety on offshore platforms through the development of solutions based on artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oil rig safety enhanced by AI<\/h2>\n\n<p>This energy project was financed by the <strong>ANP<\/strong>&#8216;s R&amp;D&amp;I clause, the main focus of which is the evolution of the <strong>Shape Reef<\/strong> tool, which specializes in identifying the deterioration of safety barriers.<\/p>\n\n<p>Over the next 36 months, we will be implementing and refining <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/pipeline-inspection-terminals\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"78844\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">predictive analytics methods<\/a><\/strong> capable of more accurately detecting failures in critical systems, procedures and equipment installed in floating production units. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/fpso-industry-offshore-advantages-challenges\/\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"246437\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">floating production units (FPSO).<\/a><\/strong><em>(FPSO<\/em>). The goal is to generate real-time operational visualizations that support decisions based on reliable and up-to-date data. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>MODEC <\/strong>will provide technical information and operational experience from its units in Brazil, while <strong>Unicamp <\/strong>will lead the scientific part of the project, integrating real data with computational models. This synergy between academia and industry will make it possible to simulate scenarios of gas leaks and other threats with a greater capacity for anticipation. <\/p>\n\n<p>The project&#8217;s core technology, <em>Shape Reef<\/em>, is used in offshore units in Brazil, Mexico and Africa. With the planned improvements, it is expected to expand its detection and diagnostic capabilities, increasing the accuracy of <strong>risk management<\/strong>. The system will also be applicable to other<strong> industrial plants<\/strong> in the energy sector, extending its impact beyond the maritime domain.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The initiative highlights the importance of artificial intelligence in process conversion.
