The complex logistical operation began at the Hay River marine terminal in Canada and covered a distance of 1740 kilometers along the Mackenzie river system to reach the Beaufort Sea. From there, the equipment was towed by barge for another 619 kilometers to its final destination in Alaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Processing modules and water plant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Santos confirmed that other industrial modules are being mobilized from the Pacific Northwest and are expected to arrive in August. In addition to this, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/engineers-present-innovative-technology-to-purify-seawater\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/nueva-tecnologia-desaliniza-el-agua-de-mar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seawater treatment plant (WWTP)<\/a><\/strong> built in Indonesia, which is also being towed to Oliktok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once on site, these systems will be integrated with the infrastructure already in place in preparation for the start of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/types-of-crude-oil-classification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oil production<\/a><\/strong> expected in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accelerated progress in drilling and assembly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Kevin Gallagher, CEO of Santos, <strong>the Pikka development has reached almost 90% completion<\/strong>. Currently, well number 21 is being drilled and the execution schedule is aligned with the operational objectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The executive highlighted the efficiency of the team, which was able to complete the pipeline in only two winter seasons, enabling an early start-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Increased production by 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.santos.com\/north-america\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.santos.com\/north-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pikka<\/a><\/strong> and the Barossa natural gas project represent two key pillars for Santos to increase its production by 30% by 2027.
