Although <strong>Gilmour Space Technologies&#8217; Eris rocket only remained in flight for 14 seconds<\/strong>, its liftoff marked a key breakthrough for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/lignosat2-the-innovator-wood-satellite\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/lignosat2-el-innovador-satelite-de-madera\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">space industry<\/a><\/strong> the country&#8217;s sovereign space industry. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A short but significant takeoff<\/h2>\n\n<p>The launch took place at the Bowen orbital spaceport in north Queensland. This was the <strong>first<\/strong> <strong>flight attempt of a rocket developed entirely in Australia<\/strong>. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gspace.com\/launch\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gspace.com\/launch\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eris<\/a><\/strong>rocket, with its 23 meters high and 30 tons, uses a hybrid <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/electra-and-its-innovative-el9-ultra-short-hybrid-electric-aircraft\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/avion-hibrido-electrico-el9-ultra-short\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hybrid propulsion system<\/a><\/strong> designed in-house by Gilmour Space. Source: Space.com <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Australian technology at the service of new capabilities<\/h2>\n\n<p>The TestFlight 1 test campaign was the first to use the new licensed spaceport for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/isar-aerospace-says-its-first-test-flight-of-the-spectrum-rocket-was-a-success\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/vuelo-del-cohete-spectrum-duro-30-segundos\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">orbital launches<\/a><\/strong>. From propulsion to avionics, the entire development was carried out with national resources and collaboration with more than 500 Australian suppliers.   <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, Gilmour worked closely with key regulatory agencies such as the Australian Space Agency and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A step towards space self-sufficiency<\/h2>\n\n<p>CEO Adam Gilmour highlighted the complexity of space missions and stressed that this test serves as a basis for future improvements.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We have learned a lot and will apply these lessons to the next Eris, already in production.  <\/p>\n<cite>He assured.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>With plans for a new launch <strong>in six to eight months<\/strong>, the company is looking to consolidate a low-cost, high-capacity option for putting small satellites into orbit. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/china-passes-in-orbit-satellite-refueling-test\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/china-y-prueba-de-acoplamiento-de-satelites\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">small satellites into orbit.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Local cooperation and innovation<\/h2>\n\n<p>This first attempt is also an exercise in national coordination. Air, maritime and space authorities participated in the regulatory framework to ensure a safe launch. No injuries or environmental damage were recorded, validating the operability of the facilities.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Gilmour Space positions itself as a pioneer in a market where few nations have the capacity to launch rockets on a regular basis. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gspace.com\/missions\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gspace.com\/launch\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eris program<\/a><\/strong> program represents the strongest attempt to date for Australia to join that exclusive group.
