The consortium formed by T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas and Sinopec has been selected by ACWA Power to develop the design for a new green hydrogen plant in Yanbu<\/strong>, Saudi Arabia, which will double the capacity of the emblematic NEOM project<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The complex will have an electrolysis capacity of 4 GW<\/strong> and will have the potential to produce up to 400,000 tons of green hydrogen per year. green hydrogen<\/a><\/strong>. This feedstock will be transformed into green ammonia to facilitate its export to international markets, reinforcing the kingdom’s plans to consolidate its position as a key player in the global energy transition. <\/p>\n\n

The contract awarded to T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas and Sinopec covers the engineering design (FEED) phase, which will last for 10 months<\/a><\/strong> and will lead to an EPC proposal valued at several billion euros. Although direct renewable energy generation is not yet contemplated at this stage, it is envisaged that the plant will be supplied by solar and wind projects<\/a><\/strong> projects. <\/p>\n\n

The facility will include water desalination systems<\/a><\/strong> and a port terminal dedicated to the export of green ammonia. These complementary infrastructures are key to ensuring the sustainable operation of the plant in a water-constrained environment. <\/p>\n\n

The strategic role of the green hydrogen plant in Yanbu<\/h2>\n\n
