U.K.-based Apatura has obtained planning approval to build a new BESS system<\/a><\/strong> system near Clydebank, consolidating its leadership in energy storage in the UK.<\/p>\n\n

The new battery storage system<\/a><\/strong> The new 560 MW, 1120 MWh battery storage system will be located on a 29-hectare site a few kilometers from Clydebank and Glasgow. It will be connected by subway cabling to the Windyhill and Drumchapel substations, located less than 3 km away. <\/p>\n\n

This approval marks the eleventh planning permission obtained by Apatura in just two years, bringing total permitted capacity to more than 2.1 GW in projects spread across central Scotland.<\/p>\n\n

Project Whitehall: Key to the United Kingdom<\/h2>\n\n

Andrew Philpott, Apatura’s director of development, explained that the new site, known as the Project Whitehall<\/a><\/strong>The BESS system will provide the resilience needed to move towards a zero net emissions energy future.<\/p>\n\n

According to the decision letter issued by Scottish ministers, the development represents essential infrastructure to ensure a secure and reliable supply during the transition to renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n

BESS systems make it possible to store energy generated at times of low demand to be used when consumption increases, thus stabilizing prices and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. fossil fuels<\/a><\/strong>. Apatura’s commitment to affordable, clean energy is reflected in the rapid expansion of its project portfolio. Just last month the company secured permits for two more facilities: a 100 MW facility at Killwinning and a 50 MW facility at East Kilbride. <\/p>\n\n
