Cenovus Energy’s West White Rose project reached a decisive step with the placement of the upper structure on the concrete gravity base off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/p>\n\n
Specifically, after a voyage that began on June 3 from the Kiewit shipyard in Texas, the 23,000-ton top structure was transported by the vessel Pioneering Spirit<\/a><\/strong> and positioned in the West White Rose sector of the White Rose oil field on July 16. Thanks to favorable sea conditions, the assembly process was completed in just two hours<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n On the other hand, the upper structure integrates key modules such as 144-person accommodations, service block, service<\/a><\/strong>service block, heliport<\/a><\/strong>lifeboat stations and drilling substructures. This facility is a key component in the expansion of the field, which includes satellite areas such as North Amethyst, South White Rose and West White Rose. <\/p>\n\n Now, Cenovus Energy’s efforts are focused on the final tasks: the connection of the subsea infrastructure and the commissioning of the platform, with the expectation of achieving the first oil production<\/a><\/strong> in the second quarter of 2026. Projections are for peak production in 2028. <\/p>\n\n It should be recalled that the White Rose field, operated and majority owned by Cenovus, is located 350 kilometers east of St. John’s. <\/strong> and is a key piece of Canada’s offshore energy portfolio.
