On July 14, the KEYS Azalea<\/strong> successfully executed the first ship-to-ship LNG refueling for a cruise ship in Japan, fueling the ASUKA III <\/strong>at the Chuo dock of Hakata Port<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Progress in the supply of LNG to cruise ships<\/h2>\n\n

The ASUKA III<\/em>, managed by NYK<\/a><\/strong>is equipped with engines that operate on multiple fuels, including LNG. Such hybrid capability allows for minimizing sulfur and CO\u2082 emissions, aligning with the industry’s decarbonization goals. <\/p>\n\n

The KEYS Azalea<\/em>, owned by KEYS Bunkering West Japan<\/strong>, had experience supplying LNG to bulk carriers and car carriers. However, this was its first foray into supplying cruise ships. <\/p>\n\n

With shareholders such as Kyushu Electric Power<\/strong>, NYK Line<\/strong>, ITOCHU ENEX<\/strong> and Saibu Gas<\/strong>, KEYS Bunkering West Japan<\/strong> establishes itself as a strategic supplier in the LNG supply network in Japan. In addition, its vision focuses on ensuring safe and consistent deliveries, supporting the creation of a carbon neutral economy. <\/p>\n\n

The July 14 operation represents a technical improvement and a clear sign of the sustainable direction passenger shipping is taking in Asia.<\/p>\n\n
