Ecopetrol acquired all the shares of Wind Autogeneraci\u00f3n S.A.S., a company controlled by Enel Colombia and owner of the Windpeshi wind project.<\/strong> With this operation, the Colombian oil company directly assumes the development of the wind farm located between Uribia and Maicao, in La Guajira. <\/p>\n\n

This acquisition marks the beginning of Ecopetrol’s direct foray into wind farm construction. wind farm construction, with Windpeshi<\/a><\/strong>with Windpeshi as the first project managed entirely by the company. It is a facility that will have an installed capacity of 205 megawatts (MW)<\/strong>, intended exclusively for the Group’s own energy consumption. According to estimates, it will produce around 1,006 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year, which will cover between 8 and 9% of Ecopetrol’s internal energy demand. <\/p>\n\n

Windpeshi as a driver of energy decarbonization<\/h2>\n\n

In addition to operating profit, Windpeshi<\/a><\/strong> will significantly reduce the company’s carbon emissions<\/a><\/strong>emissions, with an expected mitigation of approximately 4.8 million tons of CO\u2082 during its useful life. In line with this objective, the group has projected an investment of close to US$350 million for implementation between 2025 and 2027. <\/p>\n\n

The reactivation of the works is planned before the end of 2025, with a view to have the wind farm in operation before 2028. Ecopetrol has announced that it will rely on high-level contractors with proven experience to ensure the technical quality of the project. <\/p>\n\n

The project also includes a key component: the active participation of Wayuu indigenous communities, whose traditional authorities will be included in intercultural dialogue spaces promoted by Ecopetrol. This articulation with the communities seeks to ensure respectful development of the environment and local culture. <\/p>\n\n
