In addition, it has an azimuthal propulsion system and the patented <strong>Damen Twin Fin <\/strong>twin keel gives it a high degree of maneuverability, ideal for operations in docks and narrow channels. <\/p>\n\n<p>As part of <em>Damen&#8217;<\/em>s <strong>Compact Tugs series<\/strong>, the new tug integrates solutions focused on crew safety, such as 360-degree visibility from the wheelhouse and a clear deck. In addition, it has a <strong>unique multipurpose winch<\/strong> located inside a deckhouse, providing protection from adverse weather. <\/p>\n\n<p>Moreover, this vessel integrates an <strong>auxiliary electrical generation system <\/strong>that optimizes fuel consumption and operating emissions. It is also equipped with the <strong>selective catalytic reduction <\/strong><em>(SCR<\/em>) <strong>system <\/strong> developed by Damen. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/damen-shipyards-delivers-germanys-first-fully-electric-ferry\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"224300\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Damen<\/a><\/strong>which reduces nitrogen oxide <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/wingds-innovative-nox-reduction-technology-in-engines-will-enter-the-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"226590\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) by up to 80<\/a><\/strong><em>(NOx<\/em>) emissions by up to 80%, aligning with International Maritime Organization Tier III regulations. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are proud to invest in the future capacity of our port with a second modern tugboat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partnering again with Damen gives us access to cutting-edge technology that improves the safety, performance and reliability of our towing services.<\/p>\n<cite>Rhys Welbourn, executive director of PMNZ.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>This is the second tug to be delivered to Port Marlborough by Damen, following the <strong>Kaiana<\/strong><em>(ASD 2111<\/em>) in 2024. With this new addition, the port authority establishes itself as the operator of the most modern tug fleet in the country.
