This French innovation combines coastal defense and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/ren-reports-that-renewable-energy-production-reaches-historic-highs-in-portugal\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/ren-y-la-produccion-de-energia-renovable\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">energy production<\/a><\/strong>This French innovation combines coastal defense and energy production, opening a new avenue in the use of marine resources. <\/p>\n\n<p>Dikwe is the result of a collaboration between GEPS Techno, the Legendre Group and the Ifremer marine research institute. Unlike conventional breakwaters, this infrastructure incorporates a movable fin connected to a conversion device that, driven by the waves, generates energy. Its purpose is to protect harbors and coasts while producing clean electricity. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/enel-green-power-supplies-clean-electricity-for-cemex-in-guatemala\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"41351\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clean electricity<\/a><\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dikwe system prepares for full-scale testing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Since 2012, Ifremer and GEPS Techno have been working on digital models, 1\/15 scale tests and then a 1\/4 scale prototype installed in the Bay of Brest. The last stage involves a full-scale installation in Boulogne-sur-Mer, scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025. In addition to assessing energy performance, its environmental impact on the marine environment is being studied.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The initiative has led to the creation of the Wave-OP joint venture, dedicated to promoting this solution in ports and coastal areas. The strategy seeks to replicate the model in different geographic contexts, integrating <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/company-seeks-to-expand-its-hybrid-energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/empresa-busca-expandir-su-energia-hibrido\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hybrid technologies<\/a><\/strong> technologies adapted to local conditions. This proposal responds to the challenges of the blue economy and the need for resilient and sustainable infrastructures.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wave energy in action<\/h2>\n\n<p>The key to the system lies <strong>in its ability to adapt to the natural movement of the sea<\/strong>. Each installed fin captures the kinetic <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/wind-power-energy-at-los-angeles-port\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/energia-undimotriz-en-el-puerto-los-angeles\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kinetic energy of the waves<\/a><\/strong> and converts it through internal mechanical systems, all without disturbing the balance of the ecosystem. This makes it possible to integrate energy production into essential port functions.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/geps-techno.com\/dikwe-premiere-digue-portuaire-a-recuperer-l-energie-des-vagues\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/geps-techno.com\/dikwe-premiere-digue-portuaire-a-recuperer-l-energie-des-vagues\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dikwe<\/a><\/strong> represents an evolution in the design of maritime defenses. It is not only about resisting the sea, but also about collaborating with it.
