On June 17 and 18, events were held in Oslo and Brevik to mark the completion of the project, which aims to make Norway a benchmark in carbon capture and <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/italy-carbon-capture-and-storage\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"105171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>carbon capture and storage (CCS).<\/strong><\/a><em>(CCS<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The development of the Longship project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Northern Pathfinder<\/strong>, the second CO\u2082 carrier in the <strong>Northern Lights<\/strong> fleet, was a key player. Together with the first vessel, the <strong>Northern Pioneer<\/strong>, these CO\u2082 transports enable the creation of a safe and reliable infrastructure for the decarbonization of European industry. These vessels support large-scale carbon storage and transport, an essential aspect of achieving the region&#8217;s emission reduction targets.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The <em>Northern Pathfinder,<\/em> with a capacity of 7,500 tons of liquid CO\u2082, will join the<em> Northern Pioneer<\/em> in the <strong>commissioning phase<\/strong>. This 130-meter vessel has been specially designed for this purpose and is registered in Stavanger, Norway, where it will be managed by <strong>Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha<\/strong><em>(K Line<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n<p>The godmother of the event, Kari Nessa Nordtun, Norwegian Minister of Education, participated in the blessing of the vessel, highlighting the institutional support for this initiative.
