Petrobras <\/strong>has made official the signing of new contracts that will give continuity to the construction of the second processing train at the Abreu e Lima Refinery<\/strong>(RNEST<\/em>), located in the state of Pernambuco.<\/p>\n\n

RNEST Train 2 construction for new industrial plants<\/h2>\n\n

This agreement contemplates the implementation of three essential units to expand the refinery’s operating capacity: a delayed coking plant <\/strong>(UCR<\/em>), a hydrotreating unit for low-sulfur diesel<\/strong>(UHDT-D<\/em>) and an atmospheric distillation plant<\/strong>(UDA<\/em>), which will increase the production of high-value derivatives, essential for supplying the domestic market with cleaner fuels.<\/p>\n\n

According to figures presented by Petrobras<\/a><\/strong>According to figures presented by Petrobras, the UCR <\/strong>will have a processing capacity of up to 75,000 barrels per day, the UHDT-D <\/strong>will operate with 82,000 barrels per day, and the UDA <\/strong>will reach 130,000 barrels per day. These figures strengthen RNEST as one of the most relevant industrial centers for the Brazilian oil industry. <\/p>\n\n

RNEST is strategic for Brazil, as it is Petrobras’ operations center in the North and Northeast regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contracts to resume construction of Train 2 of the refinery demonstrate the company’s commitment to the country’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected contractor, Consag Engenharia SA<\/strong>, will be responsible for executing the works, which include the installation of new industrial technologies and increasing the level of automation of the oil complex.<\/p>\n\n

Since its start-up in 2014, RNEST <\/strong>has been recognized as the most advanced refinery in Petrobras’ fleet. With the completion of the second train, the plant’s installed capacity will double, reaching 260,000 barrels per day and establishing itself as the company’s second largest refinery. <\/p>\n\n

Recent plant events include the start-up of the SNOX unit <\/strong>in December 2024, dedicated to the reduction of pollutant emissions<\/strong> and the production of sulfuric acid<\/strong> as a marketable by-product. <\/p>\n\n
