At an event held at the Belgian embassy in Tokyo, Princess Astrid led the official presentation of a strategic partnership between BeHydro, JPNH\u2082YDRO, DAIHATSU INFINEARTH and Mizuno Marine. This international alliance seeks to introduce state-of-the-art hydrogen engines<\/a><\/strong> in Japanese ports and offshore, aligned with the country’s carbon neutrality goals.<\/p>\n\n

Technological breakthrough in hydrogen engines<\/h2>\n\n

BeHydro, a Belgian company resulting from the merger between CMB.TECH and ABC Engines, brings to the agreement its renowned dual fuel and 100% hydrogen engine technology, which already operates on European vessels. <\/p>\n\n

In Japan, this technology will be installed for the first time on a tugboat built by TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, with delivery scheduled for July. In parallel, three BeHydro BeHydro engines<\/a><\/strong> 100% hydrogen engines will be integrated into a zero-emission vessel<\/a><\/strong> developed by JPNH\u2082YDRO with support from the Nippon Foundation. <\/p>\n\n

JPNH\u2082YDRO will act as BeHydro’s general representative in Japan, managing imports, performance testing and deliveries. DAIHATSU INFINEARTH will contribute its expertise in regulatory validation and engine manufacturing<\/a><\/strong>while Mizuno Marine will be responsible for commissioning and maintenance. This technical synergy ensures an efficient and reliable deployment in Japanese waters. <\/p>\n\n

Mitsuo Kambara, of JPNH\u2082YDRO, noted that \u201cthis collaboration concretizes the commercial implementation of medium-speed hydrogen engines in Japan.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

For his part, Tim Berkmoes, director of BeHydro, said, \u201cOur mission is to support Japanese shipowners in their energy transition with emission-free solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Roy Campe, CTO of CMB.TECH, noted that \u201cthe combination of Belgian technology with local Japanese expertise will accelerate the decarbonization of the maritime sector\u201d. From DAIHATSU INFINEARTH, Yoshinobu Hotta reaffirmed their commitment to \u201ca sustainable society based on clean technologies.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

Shigeru Mizuno concluded, \u201cWe feel responsible for creating safe conditions for the operation of these new engines in Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
