The drive towards emission-reducing technologies in the offshore emission-reducing technologies in the offshore industry<\/a><\/strong> continues to gain momentum. In this vein, MODEC Inc. and Carbon Clean Solutions Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate the development of offshore carbon capture technologies<\/strong> in floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units. <\/p>\n\n

A firm step towards maritime decarbonization<\/h2>\n\n

Both companies seek to integrate Carbon Clean’s OCCS post-combustion technology, based on its CycloneCCS system. CycloneCC<\/a><\/strong>system, into the technical design established by MODEC for their floating platforms<\/a><\/strong>. This collaboration builds on the progress made with a previous pilot plant and aims to set a new standard in offshore carbon capture. <\/p>\n\n

The central objective is to adapt Carbon Clean’s rotating packed bed (RPB) system to the typical emissions profile of an FPSO, opening the possibility of offering this solution as a default option in future projects.<\/p>\n\n

Aligned with global emissions targets<\/h2>\n\n

The initiative comes against a backdrop of increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The standards promoted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) require the shipping industry to significantly reduce its emissions. In this context, the technology developed by Carbon Clean represents a concrete tool to meet these requirements. <\/p>\n\n

MODEC, which has been supplying solutions for the offshore sector for more than five decades, reinforces its commitment to sustainability with this agreement. <\/p>\n\n

Aniruddha Sharma, CEO of Carbon Clean, highlighted MODEC’s leadership and the importance of this collaboration as a reference for other maritime initiatives. According to Sharma, the partnership will prepare the FPSOs of the future to meet the energy challenges of the next decade. <\/p>\n\n
