Megamas Resources<\/strong> announces the development of a new cable-laying vessel, after signing a design contract with the Norwegian company Ulstein Design & Solutions.<\/strong> The agreement was made official during the Nor-Shipping Fair<\/strong>, consolidating an international collaboration that seeks to optimize the submarine cable laying landscape. <\/p>\n\n

A cable-laying vessel with Nordic seal<\/h2>\n\n

The design of the new cable laying vessel<\/em> (CLV) is centered on the ULSTEIN SX228<\/strong>, a vessel designed for complex fiber optic activities and prepared for electrical cabling missions. At 121.7 meters in length and with a cable carrying capacity of 5,500 tons, the vessel incorporates outstanding tools such as a carousel below deck and enclosed work areas for safety in adverse sea conditions. <\/p>\n\n

Construction is planned at the German shipyard of Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven<\/strong> GmbH, following a Letter of Intent<\/em> signed in May. This step represents the transition from the conceptual phase to the start of formal engineering, strengthening the technical collaboration between Megamas<\/strong>, Ulstein<\/a><\/strong> and Lloyd Werft<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The CLV will integrate cable handling technologies<\/strong> and equipment such as ROV trenchers, double pulling lines and 50-ton A-frames. It is also designed to meet the requirements of the subsea telecommunications and renewable energy sectors. The initiative has the financial and strategic backing of Crewstone International Private Equity & Investments<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The vessel’s design <\/strong>is aligned with DNV classifier<\/strong> DNV’sclean design<\/em>standards and recyclability criteria, establishing Megamas <\/strong>‘ commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in shipbuilding. Finally, delivery of the first vessel is projected for the end of 2027. <\/p>\n\n
