{"id":261046,"date":"2025-06-01T18:36:41","date_gmt":"2025-06-01T22:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/hermeus-announces-first-hypersonic-flight-of-the-quarterhorse-mk-1\/"},"modified":"2025-06-01T20:49:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T00:49:38","slug":"hermeus-announces-first-hypersonic-flight-of-the-quarterhorse-mk-1","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/hermeus-announces-first-hypersonic-flight-of-the-quarterhorse-mk-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Hermeus announces first hypersonic flight of the Quarterhorse Mk 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A new breakthrough in high-speed aviation was recorded in California, when the company <strong>Hermeus <\/strong>completed the maiden flight of the <strong>Quarterhorse Mk 1<\/strong>, its unmanned aircraft designed to operate at hypersonic speeds.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical validation of the Quarterhorse Mk 1<\/h2>\n\n<p>It was designed, built and flown in just over a year, as a <strong>Quarterhorse Mk 1 prototype<\/strong> that a critical validation of the <em>Hermeus<\/em> iterative approach <em>.<\/em> These <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/the-hypersonic-airplane-of-hermeus-tests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tests were conducted at Edwards Air Force Base<\/a><\/strong> at<strong> Edwards Air Force Base<\/strong> and focused on operations such as high-speed takeoff and landing, particularly complex aspects of large hypersonic aircraft. <\/p>\n\n<p>The data obtained confirmed the <strong>performance of vital subsystems<\/strong>, including propulsion, hydraulics and thermal management. In addition, aerodynamics, stability and control were also validated, providing critical information for the development of the next version of the aircraft. <\/p>\n\n<p>Collaboration with the <strong>Department of Defense<\/strong> and industry players has been critical to advancing this technology. Major General Scott Cain highlighted the value of these partnerships in driving innovative capabilities with strategic potential in military situations. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Hermeus <\/strong>aims to make hypersonic flight an operational reality, both in defense and commercial applications.
