The Singapore Cruise Center<\/strong> was the scene of the first supply of liquefied natural gas to the ASUKA III,<\/strong> the largest Japanese-flagged cruise ship. This operation was carried out by FueLNG Private Limited<\/strong>, boosting the use of cleaner fuels in the Asian maritime sector. <\/p>\n\n

The procurement was carried out in collaboration with Shell LNG<\/strong> and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore<\/strong>(MPA<\/em>), strengthening their joint commitment to move towards effective decarbonization of shipping.<\/p>\n\n

The choice of the ASUKA III <\/strong>as the recipient of this first bunkering is not a casual event. This vessel is a symbol of Japanese maritime tourism, and has been designed to operate on LNG, minimizing its emissions of sulfur oxides<\/strong>, nitrogen oxides<\/strong> and other particulates<\/strong>. Moreover, its addition to the gas-powered cruise routes encourages the growing trend towards more sustainable options. <\/p>\n\n

Moreover, this operation follows the supply of LNG bunkering<\/strong><\/a> carried out in February for the Silvernova<\/strong>, evidencing a continuity in the use of the Singapore Cruise Hub as a strategic point for marine bunkering in the region.<\/p>\n\n

This progress would not have been possible without coordination between public and private entities. The role of the MPA <\/strong>has been fundamental in facilitating the regulatory and logistical conditions for these operations to be carried out efficiently and safely. <\/p>\n\n

For its part, FueLNG <\/strong>has demonstrated its technical and operational capacity to carry out the supply of LNG in a complex place such as the port. Shell’<\/strong>s commitment, through its LNG division, highlights the weight that energy majors give to the development of low-carbon solutions for maritime transport. <\/p>\n\n

With this operation, Singapore consolidates its position as one of Asia’s most important LNG <\/strong> bunkering hubs<\/strong>. The city-state strengthens its leadership in port sustainability by offering services that meet the environmental requirements of shipping lines and the expectations of environmentally conscious passengers. <\/p>\n\n
