A leading global energy consultancy, Penspen, has been selected by United Living Infrastructure Services to lead the detailed engineering design of the CO\u2082 transport system for the HyNet North West project<\/strong>. This initiative, key to the decarbonization of the North West of England, is positioned as a centerpiece of the UK’s energy transition. <\/p>\n\n

The project includes a network of pipeline network<\/a><\/strong> The project involves a network of onshore pipelines that will move industrial emissions from Stanlow to subway storage in Liverpool Bay, using both new and refurbished infrastructure. Penspen will be responsible for the design of the CO\u2082 pipelines and above ground installations known as AGI (Above Ground Installations), critical to ensure the safe flow of captured carbon. <\/p>\n\n

More than 70 Penspen engineers, spread across offices in London and Aberdeen, will work on this critical stage of the project. The company has recently added 20 professionals specifically for this work, strengthening its presence in carbon capture and storage projects. carbon capture and storage<\/a><\/strong> (CCS) projects. <\/p>\n\n

Towards a low carbon energy infrastructure<\/h2>\n\n

HyNet<\/a><\/strong> integrates hydrogen production and transportation solutions, together with a subway CO\u2082 storage network in former gas fields in the Irish Sea. This infrastructure will reduce up to 10 million tons of CO\u2082 during the 2030s, consolidating the region as a global benchmark in low-emission technology. <\/p>\n\n

United Living has highlighted Penspen’s technical expertise in long-haul pipeline design as a deciding factor in its selection. The partnership between the two companies seeks to accelerate the development of a resilient energy grid aligned with the country’s climate goals. <\/p>\n\n
