JR Shipping Group has confirmed its return to the dry cargo segment through the acquisition of two ECO-8500 vessels<\/strong>. These transport units, designed for short hauls, are distinguished by their advanced propulsion technology and focus on emissions reduction. <\/p>\n\n

ECO-8500 vessels stand out for their efficiency and technology<\/h2>\n\n

The new vessels are being built by the Chowgule and Company shipyard in India as part of a collaboration that also involves Boomsma Shipping and Leonhardt & Blumberg. In total, they are part of a larger series of vessels designed to maximize operational efficiency. JR Shipping will take delivery of units number six and eight, with deliveries scheduled for the end of June 2027 and February 2028. <\/p>\n\n

The technical specifications position these vessels as benchmarks in clean shipping. With a capacity of 8,500 deadweight tons (DWT) and a hold volume of 13,900 m\u00b3, they incorporate diesel-electric propulsion systems with diesel-electric<\/a><\/strong> with Volvo Tier III Volvo Tier III<\/a><\/strong>generators, capable of reducing emissions by 50% to 90%<\/strong> compared to traditional vessels. <\/p>\n\n

In addition, they are prepared for emerging technologies such as sail-assist, battery operation and carbon capture. carbon capture<\/a><\/strong>and carbon capture, aligning with the environmental demands of the industry.<\/p>\n\n

Headquartered in Harlingen, The Netherlands, the company operates a diverse fleet ranging from cargo and multipurpose vessels to offshore service units<\/a><\/strong>. The new addition represents an expansion of its fleet and a step towards consolidating a more efficient, safe and sustainable shipping model. <\/p>\n\n
