Normet has secured a strategic contract to supply a complete fleet of subway ancillary equipment to South32’s Hermosa project, located in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The agreement includes 35 mobile units and 9 power systems, incorporating SmartDrive electrical operating technologies to advance the sustainability of the project. <\/p>\n\n
In parallel to the contract, Normet participated in the groundbreaking for a new remote operations center called Centro. This facility will allow operators to control machinery located 25 miles underground from a modern office environment. Centro is expected to house up to 200 workers on various shifts in areas such as geosciences, engineering and logistics<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n The contract covers a wide range of Normet’s mobile solutions, including the multifunctional carrier Multimec MF 100 SD<\/a><\/strong>Utimec MF 500 SD transmixers, Utimec MF 205 PER SD transport vehicles, Charmec MF 605 V LE SD explosives loaders, scissor lifts and concrete pulverizers, among others. This specialized fleet meets the needs of the project for safe and efficient operation. <\/p>\n\n Delivery of the equipment will be distributed in phases, starting in 2026 and ending in 2030. This long-term planning will allow South32 to progressively integrate the new technology into its operations, aligning field development with automation, digitalization and environmental responsibility standards. <\/p>\n\n This contract reaffirms Normet’s position as a leading provider of subway mining solutions.
