Petrobras <\/strong>and Vale <\/strong>signed a strategic alliance to test Very Low Sulfur<\/strong>(VLS<\/em>) B24<\/strong>, a marine fuel that combines fossil energy and second-generation biofuels, to improve maritime transportation routes.<\/p>\n\n

The partnership between Petrobras and Vale<\/h2>\n\n

In partnership with Oldendorff Carriers<\/strong>, the bulk carrier Luise Oldendorff<\/em> was fueled in Singapore on April 22 with VLS B24<\/strong>, composed of 24% UCOME<\/strong>(biofuel derived from used cooking oil<\/em>) and 76% fossil fuel refined in the Petrobras system. This blend, formulated locally by Petrobras Singapore<\/strong>, is ISCC EU certified<\/strong>, guaranteeing that it meets the strictest sustainability criteria. <\/p>\n\n

This test also strengthens the ongoing collaboration between Petrobras<\/em> and Vale <\/em>in the development of proposals that improve competitiveness and advance in the decarbonization of maritime transportation.<\/p>\n\n

We are developing increasingly sustainable fuels and fulfilling our commitment to decarbonize our activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership with Vale is yet another achievement of Petrobras’ goal to improve the company’s production capacity and logistics structure, to market more environmentally friendly products, and to reinforce our decarbonization strategy.<\/p>\nMagda Chambriard, executive director of Petrobras.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

For his part, Gustavo Pimenta, CEO of Vale, emphasized that the mining company is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong>, with clear goals of a 33% reduction by 2030 in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a 15% reduction by 2035 in Scope 3 emissions, in which maritime transport plays an essential role.<\/p>\n\n

In this perspective, the commercialization of biofuels by Petrobras and Petrobras<\/a> <\/strong>is a fundamental pillar in its 2025-2029 Business Plan<\/strong>, which contemplates investments of US$ 16.3 billion in energy transition initiatives, including low-carbon energy and decarbonization projects.<\/p>\n\n

This action, in addition to supporting the goals of the International Maritime Organization<\/strong>(IMO<\/em>) to reduce emissions, drives a concrete transformation in maritime transport, aligning two industrial giants on the same path towards sustainability.<\/p>\n\n
