The Capricornus-1X well, located in the Orange basin offshore Namibia, has revealed the presence of a light oil reservoir with excellent petrophysical quality<\/strong>. Drilling, initiated by the Noble Venturer on February 17, reached target depth on April 2, drilling through Lower Cretaceous formations. <\/p>\n\n

With a net productive thickness of 38 meters and no contact with water, the discovery represents a firm step in the exploration activities of the exploration activities<\/a><\/strong> in the block identified as Petroleum Exploration License 85 (PEL 85). Electrical logging, side core sampling and production testing were conducted during operations. <\/p>\n\n

The recovered crude has an API gravity of 37\u00b0, low gas content and minimal CO\u2082 levels, with no traces of hydrogen sulfide. Production exceeded 11,000 barrels per day with a 40\/64″ choke<\/strong>, indicating good reservoir pressure and quality. Block PEL 85 is operated by Rhino Resources<\/a><\/strong>which holds a 42.5% interest. Azule Energy, a joint venture between Eni and BP, holds an additional 42.5%, while Namcor and Korres Investments complete the corporate structure with 10% and 5% respectively. <\/p>\n\n

The region has gained increasing attention in the energy sector for its geological potential.
