Ocean Winds has achieved a new milestone in offshore wind energy<\/a><\/strong> with the installation of Biohuts<\/strong> at its EFGL (Floating Wind Turbines of the Gulf of Lion) pilot project<\/strong> , located off the Mediterranean coast of France<\/a><\/strong> . This advance marks the world’s first floating wind farm to integrate a green solution for marine biodiversity. <\/p>\n\n

A wind farm that respects nature<\/h2>\n\n

The installation of 32 Biohuts<\/a><\/strong> , designed to foster marine life<\/a><\/strong> , is the result of years of collaboration between Ocean Winds, ECOCEAN, and Banque des Territoires. This effort seeks to generate renewable energy through offshore wind power, but also to restore and protect marine ecosystems in the region. <\/p>\n\n

These biostructures were developed to replicate natural breeding habitats for marine species such as fish and crustaceans. Their implementation in the wind farm’s floats was made possible thanks to pioneering research that began almost a decade ago, supported by data obtained from the Biodiversity Observation Buoy (BoB). <\/p>\n\n

A greener future with the installation of biohuts<\/h2>\n\n

The EFGL project<\/a><\/strong> stands out for its positive environmental impact and positions Ocean Winds as a leader in the energy transition in France. With the installation of the wind turbines<\/a><\/strong> scheduled for the summer of 2025, this wind farm will set a precedent in the industry by integrating sustainable practices into every phase of its development. <\/p>\n\n

This type of initiative reinforces Ocean Winds’ commitment to preserving marine ecosystems and its contribution to the national goal of achieving 45 GW of offshore wind energy by 2050.<\/p>\n\n
