This breakthrough promises to transform <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/security-industrial-operational-environments\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/seguridad-entornos-operativos-industriales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">safety in industrial, medical, nuclear, and emergency settings<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Multiple functions in a single device<\/h2>\n\n<p>This new compact detector uses multilayer Phoswich technology, which combines different scintillation materials to create a comprehensive detection system. Thanks to this configuration, the device acts as five sensors in one, allowing for the precise detection of alpha, beta, gamma, X-ray, and neutron radiation. Its modular design makes it easy to adapt to different field conditions.  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The detector provides a complete picture of the radiological situation in a short time and with great efficiency, without the need to carry multiple devices.<\/p>\n<cite>According to Kari Per\u00e4j\u00e4rvi, senior advisor at STUK<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Field applications and operational advantages<\/h2>\n\n<p>This equipment is designed for operations where time and precision are critical. Its directional gamma ray detection capability facilitates the location of emitting sources, a crucial feature in official inspections or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/3-of-the-most-radioactive-places-on-earth\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"161833\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">radioactive material<\/a><\/strong> smuggling situations. <\/p>\n\n<p>Neutron radiation detection, vital for identifying materials like plutonium, improves the characterization of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/terrapower-nuclear-reactor-plant\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"163562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nuclear sources<\/a><\/strong> . <strong>It also allows for the detection of surface contamination through wipe sampling<\/strong> , which is key for medical and industrial environments. Source: University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A scalable and lightweight radiation detector<\/h2>\n\n<p>Weighing less than two kilograms, the device is ready for integration into <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/present-a-radron-drone-detects-radiation\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/presentan-a-radron-dron-detecta-radiacion\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">portable monitoring<\/a><\/strong> systems, backpacks, vehicles, and drones. <strong>Its integrated digital architecture reduces electronic complexity<\/strong> , which could allow for even lighter future versions.<\/p>\n\n<p>The technology is currently patented and industrial partners are being sought for commercialization.
